Nicole Kita utilizes the silkscreen medium to capture motifs that have been prevalent in many cultures from around the world.

Artist Statement: Printmaking is a dissemination of information and visual culture.

Prior to the fifteenth century, images were singular, one of a kind, and rare. They were objects of privilege, tethered by class and geography, to private palaces and places of worship.

The invention of the printing press provided the technology to multiply images, redefining the cultural history of visual communication and reaching a new socioeconomic audience.

Barn quilts are artifacts of the history, folklore, and cultural heritage of the United States. Barn quilts, also known as Hexsigns or Hexafoos, emerged from early German folk art traditions.

Silkscreen printing by local Pennsylvanian craftsmen disseminated hex signs nationwide as popular tourist souvenirs.

All orders ship via USPS or FedEx. No returns or exchanges after the market is closed on December 24th.
